Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: Mastering the A Single Madman Mission
For players of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the main quest A Single Madman offers a rewarding test of stealth and patience. This mission, set on a tropical island, requires careful navigation and tactical takedowns to eliminate the target, Julien du Casse. The following guide provides a clear, step-by-step walkthrough to help players complete the quest efficiently and without unnecessary detection.
How to Start A Single Madman
After sailing to the mission location, the player must grab a rope and swing into the water. Swimming to shore, the path leads toward ancient ruins. The target, Julien du Casse, is situated to the north of the island. Reaching him requires first traversing the jungle terrain. From the ruins, climbing upward is essential to access the jungle area above. The route is largely linear, so following it forward is straightforward.
Stealth Tactics in the Jungle
Upon reaching the road section, switching to stealth mode is critical. Enemies wear distinctive yellow clothing, making them easy to spot, and their overhead markers help track movement. The first enemy should be taken down with a stealth takedown. Using a fallen tree as cover, the player can advance and eliminate the next guard. While weapons are an option, stealth takedowns keep the approach clean and quiet. Using every bit of available cover is key as the player pushes forward.
Continuing up the path leads to a waterfall area. Sliding under a branch before the waterfall allows passage, followed by climbing the mountainside into the next jungle section.
Navigating Tree Trunks and the Upper Base
On the right side of this section, a tree trunk provides access. Using platform jumps, the player can reach the upper area. Climbing the next trunk, jumping to a branch, and pulling up to the upper base reveals lootable boxes. From there, following the green marker leads to a zone with a higher density of enemies. Staying hidden and using the environment to take out foes one by one is recommended.
Getting Through the Final Jungle Section
Running up a large tree above a hut and swinging into bushes avoids detection. The last jungle section contains several huts with guards. Two ground guards patrol in a circular route around a large tree, offering windows to move between bushes. The key is to avoid engaging these three guards entirely, using bush cover to navigate around them and move toward the exit.
At the jungle exit, two guards block the path. Since passing undetected is impossible, a deliberate approach is needed. The player should get close, let one guard notice them, then immediately run back into the bushes and hide. The guard will investigate. Waiting for him to turn around, taking him out quietly, then avoiding the remaining guard and running straight out of the jungle following the green marker completes this section.
Reaching the Mansion Area
Platforming through trees leads to the mansion area where Julien du Casse is based. Heading for tree branches overlooking the compound, the player waits until no one is looking, then dives into the bushes below. As enemies pass near the bushes, they can be taken out as they approach. Moving toward the northeast side, the player works through nearby guards using stealth, clearing them one by one. While doing so, freeing prisoners in the area is important.
The prisoners confirm that Julien is down at the docks. Heading to the west side, using an upper wooden platform, and making way to a tree trunk leads to a viewpoint. Diving into the water from there begins the final approach.
The Docks and Taking Down Julien du Casse
At the bottom, a chest contains the Captain’s Wheellock Pistols, which should be collected before pushing forward. Moving toward the dock, staying underwater as much as possible avoids detection by enemies on the surface. Shortly after, enemies engage with other NPCs, providing a distraction. Using that opportunity, the player can take down hostiles. Yellow clothes and overhead markers make identification easy.
Near the ship, the guard by the dock is taken out quietly. A yellow-outlined door on the ship marks the entry point. Jumping from the dock, scaling up the side, and boarding the vessel without detection is critical to avoid triggering an ambush. Once aboard, climbing up the rafters to the top mast leads to Julien du Casse. Reaching him and assassinating him completes the A Single Madman main quest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
