Indian Consulate in Dubai Extends Community Outreach Across UAE
The Indian Consulate in Dubai has intensified its community engagement efforts, organising a series of initiatives ranging from free legal counsel to environmental drives. These activities, conducted across Dubai and the Northern Emirates, reflect a structured approach to serving the Indian diaspora while promoting social responsibility.
What campaigns are driving the consulate's recent activities?
The outreach forms part of two official campaigns linked to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first, Seva Pakhwada 2026, ran from September 17 to October 2, coinciding with Modi's birthday and the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The second, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, continues until October 17, marking 25 years of Modi's public service. Both campaigns emphasise community participation and align with the broader vision of a developed India by 2047.
How is the consulate supporting workers and residents?
Practical assistance for workers has been a central priority. On September 21, the consulate hosted a walk-in Legal Counselling Camp offering pro-bono guidance on cybercrime, financial fraud, and misuse of Emirates ID. Additionally, a financial literacy and health awareness session was held at a labour accommodation in partnership with TAK Group, providing workers with essential information on healthcare access and consular services.
Consulate officials also participated in an awareness session titled CLEAR - Community Learning on Alcohol Risks, organised with the All Kerala Medical Graduates Emirates, a group of expatriate doctors from Kerala. The initiative aims to educate on the harmful effects of alcohol and encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
What environmental initiatives have been undertaken?
Environmental responsibility featured prominently in the outreach. Consul General Dr E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy and consulate officials joined tree plantation drives at several universities in Dubai, including Amity University, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, University of Dubai, and BITS Pilani. In Sharjah, similar activities took place at Indian International School, PACE International School, Gulf Asian English School, and Delhi Private School.
At the consulate's Chancery, officials took the Swachhata (Cleanliness) pledge and participated in a cleanliness drive under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Cleaning staff received medical check-ups organised with the Emirates Ayurveda Graduates Association. On Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, floral homage was paid to Mahatma Gandhi at his bust at the consulate, followed by a tree plantation activity in Ajman.
How has the community responded to the spirit of service?
The initiatives have drawn notable participation. The Viksit Bharat Run 2026, held at Zabeel Park with the Indian People's Forum, attracted approximately 3,000 registrations. Consulate officials also took part in Langar Seva at Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara, serving community meals, and a blood donation camp was conducted at Sharjah Blood Bank with Ekta Sharjah and the Dawoodi Bohra Community.
A cultural event celebrating public service featured presentations and student reflections on the vision of Viksit Bharat. Through these efforts, the consulate aims to reach workers, families, students, and community organisations, encouraging a healthier, greener, and more socially responsible society in the UAE.
