MLB's Creative Stadium Giveaways Boost Attendance to Seven-Year High
Major League Baseball teams are drawing record crowds through increasingly inventive stadium promotions, from pope-themed hats in Chicago to Nolan Ryan bloody lip jerseys in Texas. The league's average attendance of 29,618 through Tuesday's games represents the highest full-season figure since 2017, according to league data.
The Chicago White Sox captured national attention this week when they distributed pope-shaped hats to all 38,113 fans in attendance for Tuesday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds. The promotion honoured Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago native and lifelong White Sox supporter, and helped push the club's season attendance to 1,460,383, surpassing its entire 2025 total of 1,445,738.

The New York Mets offered fake glasses and moustaches for a Bobby Valentine Disguise Night, while the Milwaukee Brewers handed out 25,000 bar dice sets to fans aged 21 and over on Saturday, drawing a crowd of 40,625 to American Family Field.
Bobbleheads remain a staple, including the Brandon Nimmo Bull Riding figurine in Texas and the butter-churning Nick Kurtz
