Akar Dining and Terra Dining, both located in Kuala Lumpur's Taman Tun Dr Ismail, have joined Malaysia's exclusive Michelin-starred restaurant collection. These establishments represent the growing recognition of modern Malaysian cuisine on the international stage.
Akar Dining Achieves Recognition
Akar Dining, established in 2020 under the guidance of chef-owner Aidan Low, has earned its first Michelin star. The restaurant distinguishes itself by combining Japanese culinary techniques with traditional Malaysian ingredients and flavours.
Low expressed measured satisfaction with the achievement, stating that the restaurant had been working steadily towards this recognition. He emphasised that the award represents broader potential for Malaysian cuisine to gain international acknowledgement.

Chong noted that this recognition demonstrates Malaysian cuisine's capacity to compete with international fine dining standards, particularly in preserving and elevating traditional culinary practices.
Established Excellence Continues

Six other establishments preserved their Michelin-starred status, including Au Jardin and Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery in Penang, and DC by Darren Chin, Beta KL, Molina KL, and Chim by Chef Noom in Kuala Lumpur.
